Transforming Lives at BSRC

How the Program Works

Big Springs Ranch provides a structured residential environment where youth follow consistent daily routines designed to build accountability, confidence, and stability.

Daily Structure

Each day includes:

  • Morning routines and responsibilities
  • Full school day on campus
  • Athletics and structured activities
  • Evening expectations and reflection
  • Consistency and accountability are reinforced throughout the day.

Residential Living

Youth live in family-style cottages with trained house parents who provide:

  • 24-hour supervision
  • Guidance and mentorship
  • Consistent expectations
  • A stable, structured environment

A 7,000-Acre Ranch Environment

Located in the Texas Hill Country, Big Springs Ranch uses outdoor experiences as part of the program structure, including:

  • Hiking and fishing
  • 4-H and outdoor activities
  • Equestrian and horsemanship programs.

These experiences help youth build responsibility, discipline, patience, and confidence.

TBRI: Understanding How Your Child Thinks and Connects
Our ranch uses the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) approach to help youth feel understood, supported, and empowered to grow. Here’s how TBRI strengthens the journey of every child:

  • Creating Felt Safety: We ensure every child feels truly safe—emotionally, physically, and relationally—so they can relax, trust, and thrive.
  • Meeting Core Needs: We respond to each child’s unique needs with intention and compassion, helping them feel regulated, valued, and ready to learn.
  • Building Trusting Connections: We nurture strong, healthy relationships that help children feel connected, understood, and confident in those who care for them.
  • Empowering Through Challenges: We teach practical skills that help youth manage emotions, overcome struggles, and face life’s challenges with resilience and hope.

Academics & Athletics

Our on-site charter school supports the residential program by reinforcing structure, accountability, and academic progress. Athletics and activities such as football, basketball, volleyball, track, and cheer help youth develop teamwork, discipline, confidence, and positive peer engagement.

Faith, Character & Life Skills

Faith and character development are integrated through mentorship, chapel, daily responsibilities, and structured routines that encourage:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Work ethic
  • Independence

Our Goal

We help youth:

  • Re-engage in home and school
  • Respond to structure and expectations
  • Build confidence, responsibility, and direction
